What a Two-Way Drawer Jewelry Packaging Box Is
A two-way drawer jewelry packaging box is a two-piece box: a rigid sleeve tube, open at both ends, plus a
shallow tray that slides out of the sleeve. Because the sleeve has no closed end, the tray leaves the box from the
front or from the back — the same tray, the same sleeve, two possible opening directions.
There is no lid, no hinge, no magnet and no ribbon. The only moving part is the tray, and it travels in a straight
line. This is the classic drawer box geometry with an open-ended sleeve.
| Structure | Sleeve (open both ends) + tray — 2 pieces |
| Size | 8 x 8 x 2.5 cm |
| Outer material | Rigid gray board wrapped in matte white specialty paper |
| Interior | White paper lining; cut-to-outline insert |
| Insert options | Sponge, EPE foam, EVA |
| Opening | Horizontal pull-out from the front or the back |
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
How the Both-End Pull-Out Works on a Counter or in a Shoot
The sleeve stays in the hand. That is the practical difference between this box and a closed-back drawer: the tray
can be pushed out towards whoever is looking, without turning the sleeve around.
On a retail counter the piece is pushed out towards the customer. At a trade show the same box can be opened from
the far side of the table without lifting it. In a photo shoot the tray slides out towards the camera while the sleeve
face — the side that carries your logo — keeps pointing at the lens.
Movement is horizontal and linear: the tray is pulled out and pushed back along one axis. It is not lifted, hinged
or folded open.
8 x 8 x 2.5 cm: What the Shallow Tray Holds
At 8 x 8 x 2.5 cm the box is a compact square, and the 2.5 cm tray is deliberately shallow: a ring, a pair of
earrings, a single bracelet or a pendant sits at one level and is fully visible the moment the tray clears the sleeve.
| Ring | Single ring, or two rings side by side |
| Earrings | One pair, upright in a cut slot |
| Bracelet | Flat coil or a single laid-out chain |
| Pendant / small set | Pendant plus two small pieces in separate slots |
For a ring box or an earring box line, the same shell can be
re-used with a different insert, so the pack stays consistent across the range.
White Matte Paper over Rigid Gray Board
The shell is built on rigid gray board and wrapped in matte white specialty paper with a fine grain. Gray board is
what makes the box hold its shape and keep crisp edges after repeated handling; the paper is what you see and touch.
| Board | Rigid gray board, wrapped |
| Wrap | Matte white specialty paper, fine grain |
| Lining | White paper |
| Insert media | Sponge / EPE foam / EVA |
Matte white is the neutral option: it does not fight with gold or silver jewellery, and it photographs without
hot spots. Paper is available as FSC-compliant paper (sourced from FSC-certified suppliers) on request.
Logo Methods on a White Box: Foil Stamping, Screen Print, Embossing, UV
Four finishes are used on this box. Each behaves differently on a white matte surface.
| Foil stamping | Metallic or matte foil pressed into the paper — the sharpest option for a logo mark |
| Screen printing | Flat ink, best for solid shapes and one or two colours |
| Embossing | Raised, uncoloured relief — reads by light and shadow alone |
| UV spot | Gloss varnish on matte paper — logo appears as a sheen change |
Foil and embossing are usually combined in one pass so the die position stays identical. Send vector artwork or a
reference photo; the die cut drawing comes back for approval before anything is pressed.
Slot Inserts: Sponge, EPE Foam or EVA
The insert is what makes one box size cover most of a jewellery range. We cut a slot shaped to your piece outline,
so the item sits in a fixed position instead of sliding inside the tray.
| Sponge | Soft, low cost, good for light items and gift sets |
| EPE foam | Light and resilient, holds shape through shipping |
| EVA | Denser and firmer, the usual choice for rings and heavier pieces |
A necklace box and a bracelet box can share the same shell, sleeve and print, with
only the insert changed between them.
Proofing Your Insert: Outline, Depth and Fit
Three inputs decide whether the insert works: the outline of the piece, the depth it needs, and the pull-out
clearance inside the sleeve.
| 1. Outline | Send a tracing, a photo on graph paper, or the physical sample |
| 2. Depth | Item must sit below the tray rim so it does not rub the sleeve |
| 3. Clearance | Slot edges must not catch when the tray slides in and out |
The insert drawing is confirmed together with the box die cut, so the two are approved as one unit.
Colour, Size and Sleeve Customisation
The construction stays the same; the shell can be re-skinned for your brand.
| Colour | Any solid or Pantone-matched paper; white is the standard build |
| Size | Enlarged or reduced from the 8 x 8 x 2.5 cm square |
| Sleeve print | Single face, or both long faces for a two-way box |
| Interior | White, coloured, or printed lining |
For a both-end box, the print on both long faces is worth deciding early: whichever end the tray leaves from, a
printed face is towards the buyer.
Trial Orders and Sampling
Custom boxes start with a physical sample, not a photo.
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
| Sampling time | 5-7 days |
| Artwork / die cut proof | 1-3 days before sampling |
| What the sample confirms | Paper shade, print position, tray fit, insert slot |
The trial run is made on the same line as the bulk order, so the sample you approve is the box you receive.
Request one through free sample — the insert drawing is approved together with the box.
Bulk Production Window
Production starts after the sample is approved and the deposit is in. Standard window for this box: 18-25
days, counted from approval.
| Small batch | 10-15 days |
| Standard batch | 18-25 days |
| Complex insert or peak season | 25-30 days |
Two things pull the schedule out: a new die for the sleeve, and a season queue. Both are known before you place the
order, so the date on the quote is the date we plan against.
Inspecting a Drawer Box Batch
A drawer box has one failure mode that a plain box does not: the tray has to leave the sleeve freely, every time.
| 1. Fit | Tray slides in and out from both ends without catching |
| 2. Flushness | Both tray faces sit flush with the sleeve when closed |
| 3. Print | Logo position and ink density match the approved sample |
| 4. Insert | Slot outline matches the drawing; insert sits flat in the tray |
| 5. Surface | No scuffing on the wrap, no glue marks at the folded edges |
Inspection runs on the finished batch, and the paper, ink and foil specification is archived for repeat orders.
The Guangzhou Factory Behind the Box
Guangzhou Junye Packaging Industry Co., Ltd. produces this box in its own workshop in Baiyun District, Guangzhou —
a 5,000 sqm factory with more than 50 skilled workers, serving buyers since 2004.
| Printing | Offset printing, laminating and die cutting in house |
| Assembly | Board wrapping, insert cutting and box assembly on site |
| QC | Incoming paper check plus finished-goods inspection |
Because the printing, laminating and die cutting sit under one roof, colour and registration stay consistent from the
sample to the repeat order. More on the company is on our about us page.
