A Single-End Drawer Box, Explained
This is a drawer box with one opening. The sleeve is a rigid tube closed at the back and open at the front; the tray
sits inside and slides straight out of that one end, pulled by a slim woven ribbon on the tray face.
Two pieces, one moving part, one direction. There is no lid to lift, no hinge and no magnet — the reveal is a slow,
controlled pull. It is the same family as any drawer box, in a flat format.
| Structure | Sleeve (one open end) + tray — 2 pieces |
| Size | 8 x 12 x 2.5 cm |
| Pull | Slim woven ribbon on the tray front |
| Opening | Tray slides out along the long edge, front only |
| Outer | Matte black specialty paper over rigid gray board |
| Lining | Black paper, matched to the wrap |
| Insert (choose one) | Velvet drawstring pouch / die cut EVA / high density sponge |
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
Why the Flat 8 x 12 x 2.5 cm Proportion Reads as Premium
Depth is what makes a small box look cheap. At 2.5 cm this box stays low and wide, so the silhouette is a thin slab
rather than a cube, and the jewellery inside sits in one row instead of a stack.
On a counter the box takes almost no vertical space, which lets several pieces sit side by side. In a photograph the
low profile keeps the piece in the same focal plane as the box edge, so nothing is lost to a second level.
| Bracelet | Laid out flat along the 12 cm length |
| Necklace | Chain in one row, or coiled into the pouch |
| Ring / earrings | In a cut slot, or inside the pouch |
| Small set | Two or three pieces side by side |
The same shell can serve a bracelet box and a necklace box, with nothing swapped except the insert drawing.
The Ribbon Pull and the Long-Edge Slide
The tray leaves the sleeve along the long edge, and the woven ribbon on the front face is what the fingers take hold
of. It is deliberately slim: it reads as a detail rather than a handle.
| Direction | Horizontal, along the 12 cm edge |
| Travel | About 6-7 cm of tray visible when fully open |
| Motion | Tray is never tipped, lifted or folded open |
| Closed state | Tray face sits flush with the sleeve |
Because there is one opening, the sleeve face that carries your logo always faces the same way. Teams that need the
box to open from either side should look at a both-end sleeve instead.
Matte Black Specialty Paper over Rigid Board
Underneath the wrap sits a rigid board core, which is what keeps the folded edges crisp; the matte black paper carries a fine grain, and the interior is lined in black to match.
| Board | Rigid gray board, wrapped, holds its shape |
| Wrap | Matte black specialty paper, fine grain |
| Lining | Black paper |
| Why black | Dark interiors flatter gold and silver; matte avoids glare in photos |
Paper can be supplied as FSC-compliant paper (sourced from FSC-certified suppliers) on request.
Gold Foil and Other Logo Finishes on Black
On a black surface the finish decides how visible the logo is.
| Gold foil stamping | Sharpest contrast; the usual choice on black |
| Screen printing | Flat ink, good for solid marks and one or two colours |
| Embossing | Raised, uncoloured relief that reads by light alone |
| UV spot | Gloss varnish over matte black — understated sheen change |
A vector file or even a clear photograph is enough to begin; you approve the cutting drawing before any foil goes down.
Three Insert Choices: Velvet Pouch, EVA or High-Density Sponge
The insert is the part that makes one box size fit a whole jewellery line. Three options are in normal production.
| Velvet drawstring pouch | Default, as pictured. Soft, and the piece can be handed over in the pouch itself. |
| EVA, die cut | Firm and precise; the usual pick for rings and heavier pieces |
| High density sponge | Cut with slots to your outline; soft but keeps its shape |
All three sit in the same tray. Choose one for the whole line, or run two versions against the same sleeve and print.
The Pouch That Doubles as a Gift Bag
The pouch is not packing material that gets thrown away. It lifts straight out of the tray, so it can be used as the
bag the customer keeps, or as the wrap for a piece that is handed over in person.
| In the box | Sits flat in the tray, drawstring at the top |
| Out of the box | Works as a stand-alone gift bag |
| Branding | Logo on the pouch by screening or embroidery-style print |
| Colour | Velvet colour can be matched to your range |
A velvet drawstring pouch ordered on its own is also available as a separate item.
Fitting the Insert to a Ring, Bracelet or Necklace
An insert that fits comes down to three measurements: the shape of the piece, how deep it sits below the tray edge, and the room the tray keeps as it slides out of the sleeve.
| 1. Outline | A tracing, a photo on graph paper, or the physical piece |
| 2. Depth | Piece must sit below the tray rim so it does not rub the sleeve |
| 3. Clearance | Clasps and curves must not catch when the tray slides |
The insert and the shell are approved as a single package, so the slot is never signed off in isolation from the box.
Small Runs and the Sampling Sequence
A custom box is approved as a physical sample, not as a file.
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
| Sampling | 5-7 days |
| Artwork and die cut proof | 1-3 days before sampling |
| What the sample settles | Paper shade, gold foil position, tray travel, insert fit |
The trial piece is built on the production floor rather than on a bench, so what you sign off is made the way the batch will be. Start one from the free sample page.
From Approval to Dispatch: 18-25 Days
The clock starts when the trial piece is signed off and the deposit clears; from there the usual window is 18-25 days.
| Small batch | 10-15 days |
| Standard batch | 18-25 days |
| New die or peak season | 25-30 days |
A brand-new sleeve die and a peak-season queue are the two things that push a run back. Either one is flagged at quotation stage, so the date you are given is the date we schedule to.
What We Check Before the Cartons Close
What separates a drawer box from any other rigid box is movement: the tray has to clear the sleeve by hand, smoothly, on every single unit.
| 1. Slide | Tray pulls out and returns without catching, along the long edge |
| 2. Front face | Tray face sits flush with the sleeve when closed |
| 3. Ribbon | Pull is centred, firmly fixed and even in length |
| 4. Print | Foil position and coverage match the approved sample |
| 5. Insert | Pouch, EVA or sponge sits flat; cut slots match the drawing |
| 6. Surface | No scuffing on the matte wrap, no glue marks at folded edges |
Checks are made on completed boxes rather than on the line, and the board, paper and foil details are filed so a repeat order comes out the same.
Built in Our Own Guangzhou Workshop
Guangzhou Junye Packaging Industry Co., Ltd. runs the line for this drawer box at its Baiyun District site in Guangzhou — a
5,000 sqm factory with more than 50 skilled workers, serving buyers since 2004.
| Printing | Offset printing, laminating and die cutting in house |
| Assembly | Board wrapping, ribbon fitting, insert cutting on site |
| QC | Incoming paper check plus finished-goods inspection |
Because foil stamping, lamination and die cutting all happen in the same building, gold registration and paper tone do not drift between the approved trial piece and the repeat run. The about us page covers the workshop in more detail.
Certificates, EPR and Paper Sourcing
Paperwork we can send out with a quotation:
| ISO9001:2015 | Certificate No. ZYC24Q00141R1S, valid to 28 Nov 2027 (paper packaging boxes and paper bags) |
| RoHS | Test report covering the paper box build |
| EPR Germany | LUCID registration DE2463045771631 |
| EPR France | CITEO registration FR292146_01UOMY |
| EU GPSR | Responsible person details supplied with the order |
| Paper sourcing | FSC-compliant paper (sourced from FSC-certified suppliers) available |
The certificate covers paper packaging boxes and paper bags; food-contact inner packaging falls outside its scope, and this box is not a food-contact pack.
Export Packing and Door Delivery
Each box goes into a PP sleeve before it is cased, and from there it either travels to your freight agent or moves on a door-to-door service.
| Unit protection | PP anti-scratch bag per box |
| Export carton | Standard corrugated carton; count per carton agreed with you |
| Pallet | 120 x 100 cm pallet on request |
| Terms | EXW, FOB or DDP door delivery |
Once we know the destination country and how the pieces will be displayed, the carton quantity and the pallet layout are set to suit.
Start With a Sample of This Drawer Box
