A Cube You Open On Hidden Magnets
Six centimetres wide and six tall, this box reads as a solid cube until you lift the lid. There is no ribbon to untie, no clasp to press and no drawer to line up: the cover is joined to the base along one back edge and swings up about a hundred degrees, then drops back onto two magnets set into the rim.
| Box type | Rigid flip box — lid and base joined along one edge |
| Closure | Hidden magnets, no ribbon and no clasp |
| Outer size | 6 x 6.2 x 6 cm |
| Board | 1.8 mm rigid grey board |
| Outer material | Matte black specialty paper |
| Interior | Black flocked tray with a raised centre cushion |
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
| Sampling | 5-7 days |
If your piece needs the box to open from a flat side instead, that is a different build — a sleeve and tray drawer box opens by drawing the tray out of a sleeve.
Deep Lid, Shallow Tray: Where the Two Halves Split
The height is not divided evenly. The lid takes most of it and the tray stays shallow, so the box opens to show the piece rather than a well. Lift the lid and the ring sits near the top edge, level with your eye, instead of at the bottom of a six centimetre drop.
| Lid depth | Deep — most of the 6 cm height |
| Tray depth | Shallow, with a raised centre cushion |
| Lid travel | Approx. 100-110 degrees on the hinge edge |
| Result | Ring, earring or pendant is presented high, not sunk |
A Gold Hairline That Turns the Corner
Where lid meets tray there is a single gold line, printed hot foil and carried around the corners without a break. On a matte black cube the line is what makes the closed box read as a made object rather than a plain block, and it is the one decoration that survives every angle of a photograph.
| Seam treatment | One gold foil hairline along the lid’s lower edge |
| Corners | Line turns the corner continuously |
| Contrast | Gold on matte black |
What the Raised Cushion Does for a Ring

Inside the tray sits a flocked cushion, raised on a block in the middle. A ring pushed onto it stands upright; a pendant laid on it tilts towards the light; a pair of studs sits side by side. Nothing slides to a corner in transit because the cushion holds the piece where you put it.
The cushion height is a decision, not a default. Send the outline and depth of the piece and we set the block so the item finishes level with the tray rim. ring box trays use the same cushion logic.
| Insert | Black flocked tray, raised centre cushion |
| Holds | Ring, bangle, pendant, studs, small set |
| Cushion height | Set to your piece outline |
Two Ways to Build the Flocked Tray

The tray goes together in one of two ways, and the choice is about how much height your piece needs.
| Paperboard pad flocked | Grey board pad cut and flocked — the lighter option, good for a ring or studs |
| EVA raised flocked | An EVA block raised to the height you want, then flocked black — for a bangle or a piece that must sit higher |
| Flocking | Black on both builds, colour matched to the paper |
Both are cut to the outline of the item, so the piece sits in a shape made for it rather than in a generic slot. If the run covers several pieces, we can cut a tray for each — the same approach we use for earring box runs.
Matte Black Paper over 1.8 mm Grey Board
The shell is rigid grey board wrapped in a matte black specialty paper with a fine grain. Matte matters on a black box: a gloss sheet shows every fingerprint the moment a buyer handles it, while a matte finish stays clean through a showroom afternoon.
| Board | 1.8 mm rigid grey board, wrapped |
| Wrap | Matte black specialty paper, fine grain |
| Interior | Black flocked tray, matte black inner lid |
| Effect | Sharp cube edges, no gloss glare under shop lighting |
Foil, Deboss or Emboss on a Black Cube
Three finishes work well on this wrap, and they behave differently under light.
| Gold foil stamping | Bright mark, reads from across a counter |
| Debossed logo | Recessed and dark, only the silhouette changes |
| Embossed logo | Raised, catches a raking light |
| Artwork | Vector file; we supply a foil proof with the sample |
On black paper, deboss and emboss are the quiet options and foil is the loud one. Most brands pick foil for the lid and a deboss for the inside, where glare would be a distraction.
Marking the Lid Outside and Inside
This build takes two marks. One sits in the middle of the lid’s top face, the other in the middle of the inner lid, so the brand appears once while the box is closed and again the moment it opens.
| Outer mark | Centre of the lid top face |
| Inner mark | Centre of the inner lid, printed before lining |
| Extra options | Inner base print on request |
Send one vector file and we place both marks to the same size, which keeps the box consistent if you order the lid and the tray artwork in different runs.
How the Lid Travels: 100 to 110 Degrees
A hinged paper lid has to do two jobs: open far enough to show the piece, and stop before it strains the board. On this box the lid swings about a hundred and ten degrees, which puts the inner lid facing the buyer and leaves the tray visible without tipping the box.
| Hinge | Paper hinge on one edge — no metal hardware |
| Opening angle | Approx. 100-110 degrees |
| Stop | Lid edge meets the rim; no over-travel |
Because the hinge is paper, the box is lighter than a metal-hinged case of the same size and it arrives without hardware to work loose.
Six Centimetres of Width for Earrings and Pendants
The footprint is close to square, which suits pieces that do not need a long run of space — a pair of earrings, a single pendant, a ring, a slim bangle. A piece that needs length is better in a wider box; see the flat 9 x 9 cm flip box for that proportion.
| Ring | On the raised cushion, standing upright |
| Studs or drop earrings | Side by side on the pad, or two small cushions |
| Pendant | Laid on the cushion, chain coiled behind |
| Slim bangle | Angled across the tray on an EVA raised tray |
Drawing a Sample in Five to Seven Days
Sampling starts from your artwork and the piece itself. We cut the tray to the outline you send, wrap one box in the black paper, hot foil the marks and send it with a foil proof, so the sample answers the two questions that matter — how the paper reads and how the piece sits.
| Sample time | 5-7 days |
| Sample cost | Quoted per run, credited on the bulk order |
| Included | Flocked tray cut to outline, marks, foil proof |
| Send us | Vector logo, piece outline, target quantity |
One sample is enough for most programmes. If the tray layout is uncertain, we cut two cushion heights in the same sample so you can choose on the bench.
Bulk Windows After You Sign the Sample Off
Once the sample is approved the run is scheduled against the materials and the finishing queue, and the dates below are what we hold ourselves to.
| Standard bulk run | 18-25 days after approval |
| Small batch | 10-15 days |
| New die or peak season | 25-30 days |
| Shipping | EXW, FOB Nansha or DDP door to door |
Tell us the delivery date you are working back from and we will confirm the production window in writing before the deposit.
Inspecting a Flocked Tray Before It Ships
On a black box the failures hide well, so the check list is written to catch them in daylight and under a raking lamp.
| Wrap | No scuffing on the matte paper, corners square |
| Gold line | Continuous, no break at the corners |
| Closure | Magnets pull the lid flat; no gap on either side |
| Tray | Flocking even, cushion height to spec, no loose fibre |
| Marks | Foil sharp, both outer and inner marks present |
Every unit is checked against these five points; the run is photographed before the cartons close so you have a record of what left the factory.

Ordering One Box or a Programme
The same construction scales from a single sample to a seasonal programme. What changes with volume is the finishing queue, the number of trays we cut and whether the tray is made in one layout or several.
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
| Price | Quoted per specification — request a quote |
| Sizes | Custom footprint and height available |
| Layouts | One tray per piece, or a shared tray across a range |
Start with the free sample service — we cut the cushion to your piece and send it with a foil proof, so the first thing you judge is the box in your hand.
