A Flat Flip Box: 9 x 8 x 3 cm
Nine by eight centimetres across and three deep — a shallow tray with a single flat lid rather than the deep cube most jewelry boxes arrive in. The lid is joined to the tray along the back long edge, so it swings up about a hundred and ten degrees and stays attached; the three free edges carry a narrow turn-down lip that keeps the closed box square.
| Box type | Rigid flip box — shallow tray plus one flat lid panel |
| Outer size | 9 x 8 x 3 cm |
| Closure | Two hidden magnets, plus a white ribbed ribbon that ties in a bow |
| Outer material | Matte beige specialty paper over 1.8 mm rigid grey board |
| Interior | Light grey flocked insert, die cut to slot the piece |
| MOQ | 300 pcs |
| Sampling | 5-7 days |
One Flocked Insert, Cut to Slot Any Jewelry Type
The insert is the part that makes a single box work across a range. It is a light grey flocked tray cut to the shape of what you pack, so the piece sits in a recess made for it rather than sliding on a flat pad.
| Ring | Four narrow parallel slots, cut so bands stand up in a row |
| Earring | A wide recess for a pair of studs or hoops |
| Necklace or bracelet | A broad shallow face with room to lay the chain out |
| Mixed | Slots and recesses can share one tray |
Send the outline and depth of the item and the cut is drawn to fit it — the approach we take on drawer box trays as well. A range that changes often can use the same outer box with a different insert in each run — the shell is unaffected.
Rings: Four Narrow Slots Instead of a Cushion
For a row of rings the tray is cut with four narrow parallel slots rather than a single cushion. Each band drops into its own slot, so a set stays ordered when the box is opened and nothing rolls together in transit.
| Slots | Four, parallel, cut to band width |
| Depth | Set so the stone clears the lid when the magnets pull shut |
| Spacing | Wide enough for a heavy band, close enough to read as a row |
If the run is for one style only, the slot count is a straightforward change; a ring box uses the same logic on a smaller tray.
Earrings and Necklaces: Recesses, Not Slots
Flat pieces need a different cut entirely. Earrings sit in a wide recess so a pair reads as a pair, and a necklace or bracelet gets a broad shallow face where the chain can be laid out without kinking.
| Earring recess | Wide and shallow, sized to a pair |
| Necklace face | Broad and flat, with room to loop the chain |
| Edge treatment | Flocked walls, no hard cut edge against the piece |
The Lid Hinges on the Back Long Edge
A hinge along the back long edge keeps the lid attached for the life of the box. There is no second panel to set down, no metal hardware, and the lid opens to roughly a hundred and ten degrees — far enough to show the tray, not so far that the board strains.
| Hinge | Paper hinge, back long edge |
| Opening angle | Approx. 110 degrees |
| Lid edges | Narrow turn-down lip on the three free edges |
| Hardware | None |
Hidden Magnets, and a Ribbon That Only Decorates
Two magnets set into the tray rim pull the lid shut on their own. The ribbon is not part of the closure: it runs around the box and ties at the front, and the box closes perfectly well without it.
| Closure | Two hidden magnets — the box shuts on its own |
| Ribbon | White ribbed ribbon, decorative; the box is closed either way |
| When it matters | Retail, gifting and unboxing, where the tie is part of the moment |
| When it does not | Packing lines that want speed: the magnets do the work |
The box also has a ribbon jewelry box heritage worth knowing before you specify: a box that depends on its ribbon has to be tied on every unit, while this one only has to be tied when the presentation calls for it. A flip box with ribbon is built the same way.
The Ribbon Comes Out Under the Base
Under the tray sits a thin base pedestal, slightly proud of the walls. The ribbon passes out through the gap at the corner where the pedestal meets the base, which anchors it without a punched hole and lets it be replaced or swapped for another colour in a later run.
| Ribbon exit | Under the base, at the corner |
| Ribbon | White ribbed grosgrain, ends cut at an angle |
| Swappable | Ribbon colour and width can change per order |
| Anchor | No punched slot in the outer wrap

Beige Specialty Paper over 1.8 mm Grey Board
The shell is rigid grey board wrapped in a matte beige specialty paper with a fine grain. Beige is unforgiving of a slack wrap — every corner line shows — so the wrapping is done by hand and the paper is matched across a run.
| Board | 1.8 mm rigid grey board, wrapped |
| Wrap | Matte beige specialty paper, fine grain |
| Flange | Wrapping seam kept tight at the flange |
| Effect | Square corners, soft tone that photographs warm |
A Light Grey Flock That Suits Pale Metal
The flock is light grey rather than the usual black. On a beige box a grey tray keeps the interior bright, and it flatters white gold, silver and platinum in a way a black insert does not.
| Flock colour | Light grey, matched to the wrapping |
| Why not black | Black reads heavy against beige and dulls pale metal |
| Surface | Short fibre, no specular highlight under shop lighting |
| Grip | Keeps a chain or a band from sliding in transit |
Logo Options: Foil, Deboss or Emboss
Three finishes are used on this wrap, and each changes the lid differently.
| Gold foil stamping | A bright mark on the lid top face |
| Debossed mark | Recessed and tonal, visible in raking light |
| Embossed mark | Raised, the most tactile of the three |
| Placement | Lid top face; inner lid and inner base on request

Send one vector file and we place the mark to size on the sample, so the foil proof and the production run match.
Sampling the Insert: Five to Seven Days
The sample is where the insert gets decided. We cut the tray to your outline, wrap one box in the beige paper, apply the mark and tie the ribbon, and send it with a foil proof and the insert template.
| Sample time | 5-7 days |
| Included | Flocked insert cut to your outline, mark, ribbon, template |
| Sample cost | Quoted per run; credited against the bulk order |
| Send us | Vector logo, item outline, target quantity |
If two pieces are meant to share one tray, we cut both layouts in the same sample so you can compare them side by side on the bench.
Bulk Windows and What Moves Them
After the sample is approved the run is scheduled against materials and the finishing queue.
| Standard run | 18-25 days after approval |
| Small batch | 10-15 days |
| New die or peak season | 25-30 days |
| Shipping | EXW, FOB Nansha or DDP door to door |
Tell us the date you are working back from and we confirm the window in writing before the deposit.
What We Check Before the Ribbon Is Tied
On a pale box the failures are visible, so the list is short and strict.
| Wrap | No scuffing, corners square, flange seam tight |
| Closure | Magnets pull the lid flat with no gap at either side |
| Lid travel | Opens to the set angle without straining the hinge |
| Insert | Flocking even, slots cut to spec, piece clears the lid |
| Ribbon | Exits at the corner, ends cut at an angle, bow sits centred |
Every unit is checked against these five points and the run is photographed before the cartons close. Our workshop profile and FAQ answer the rest.

| Paper | FSC-compliant paper, sourced from FSC-certified suppliers; the finished box does not carry the FSC mark |
| EU buyers | GPSR contact and documentation ready |
How the Flat Box Travels
At three centimetres deep the closed box packs like a slim tray. It drops into a mailer or a gift bag without a void to fill, and multiples stack without the dead air a deep cube leaves in a carton.
| Packed size | 11 x 10 x 5 cm per piece |
| Gross weight | Approx. 0.5 kg per piece |
| Inner packing | PP anti-scratch bag per box |
| Terms | EXW, FOB Nansha or DDP |
Start with the sample request — we cut the insert to your piece and send it with a foil proof, so the first thing you judge is the box in your hand.
