A brown telescopic box, 14 x 8 x 5 cm, in a rigid two-piece build: a board lid that drops over a board tray, both wrapped in brown diamond-quilted specialty paper. The tray is lined inside in black across the floor and all four walls, and the lid covers 59% of the height, so a shut box shows one clean step where the tray comes out below.
What The Numbers Are
| Measure | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 14 cm | the long side, front to back |
| Width | 8 cm | the short side |
| Height | 5 cm | closed, over lid and tray |
| Footprint | 14 x 8 cm | a long rectangle, 1.75 to 1 |
| Lid skirt | 59% of the height | the cover is measured on the closed box |
| Tray below the lid | the remaining 41% | shows as one clean step under the skirt |
One Board Cover, One Board Tray

Two pieces, and both are board. The lid is a top board with four walls; the tray is a board floor with four walls. Neither is folded from a single sheet of card. Each half is cut, corner-taped, wrapped, and the wrap is turned in over the mouth so the raw edge of the board never shows.
| Part | What it is | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lid | top board and four walls, wrapped | drops over the tray and lifts straight off |
| Tray | board floor and four walls, wrapped | holds the product; carries the liner |
| Liner | black liner on the floor and the four walls | covers the board and folds at every corner |
| Wrap | brown diamond-quilted paper | turned in over the mouth of both halves |
Where The Step Comes From

The lid is sized to drop over the upper part of the tray and stop, so the closed box is two blocks of slightly different width rather than one plain slab. The skirt runs 59% of the height and the tray shows for the remaining 41%. That single horizontal line under the skirt is the whole structure: it is where the cover ends, and it is the only break on the outside of the box.
There is no band around the base on this build. On a rimmed box a second strip of paper is glued round the tray and the lid lands on that; here the lid lands on nothing but the tray wall, which is why the step is one clean edge and not a double line.
Black Liner On The Floor And Four Walls
The inside of the tray is lined in black: one sheet across the floor, carried up all four walls and folded at each corner. The liner is there for two reasons. It hides the board edges and the corner tape that would otherwise be on show, and it gives a dark bed under the product, so a pale item reads sharply the moment the lid comes off.
The tray has no insert, no grooves and no divider as it ships. A candle, a jar or a folded scarf sits on the lined floor. If your piece needs a bed, an inner tray can be cut to your drawing and set into the same box; the liner stays underneath it either way.
Why The Wall Has Thickness
Greyboard wrapped in paper is not the same object as a folded carton, and the difference shows at the mouth. On this box the wall has an edge you can see: board, then the wrap turned over it and down the inside. Corners stay square under a thumb, the lid does not bow when it is lifted by one corner, and a stack of them in a carton does not collapse at the bottom of the pile.
That is also why the lid and tray have a slip fit rather than a snap. The two halves are made to the same drawing, and the lid closes by its own weight. No hinge, no magnet, no ribbon: open it by lifting the cover, which is what a buyer expects of a lid and base box.
Diamond Quilt, Pressed Into The Paper
The pattern on the lid and the walls is embossed into the paper itself, not printed on top of it. A raised diamond quilt runs diagonally across every face, so the surface catches light at an angle and goes quiet when you look straight at it. Because the texture is the paper, it does not wear off at the corners the way a printed pattern can, and it survives being wrapped round a board edge.
The wrap is the same brown on the lid, the tray and the turned-in edge at the mouth, so the box reads as one material rather than three. Our stock carries our own mark in gold foil on the top face; your artwork takes its place, and the side walls take a second line if you want one.
What Fits In 14 x 8 x 5 cm

Five centimetres of depth is the useful part. It takes a pair of earbuds in a case with room beside them, a small charger, a compact cosmetic set, a candle in a glass, a tea caddy, a folded scarf or a short run of stationery. It is deep enough that a single item looks like a retail pack rather than a mailer, and shallow enough that it still sits in a hand.
This is the most common construction in paper packaging, which is why one size covers so many products. The rest of our paper boxes run from jewellery sizes up to board game and apparel formats.
Paper Colour, Liner, Print, Size
Everything on this box is made to order. Paper colour, the embossing pattern, the liner colour, the print on the top face and the side walls, and the size itself can all be changed. Printing is foil stamping, screen printing, embossing or UV varnish, and the pattern can be left off entirely for a plain matte wrap.
Two builds sit next to this one in the range: the same construction in a gold embossed rigid box, and a taller lid and base in matte blue for eyewear. The board, the wrap and the step work the same way in all three.
Stock Size, Bespoke Size, And The Sample Route
The 14 x 8 x 5 cm size is stock and starts at 300 pcs. A bespoke size or bespoke artwork starts at 500 pcs per size, and logo printing at 1,000 pcs. Send a drawing and a dieline, artwork and a 3D mockup come back free within 1 to 3 days; a physical sample follows in 5 to 7 days. Bulk runs 18 to 25 days after sign-off, or 10 to 15 days on a small trial order, with DDP door to door as the default term and FOB Nansha or EXW Guangzhou on request.
Ask for a free sample if you want to feel the embossing and the liner before a run. Paper is FSC compliant from certified mills and the FSC mark is not printed. We hold an ISO 9001:2015 certificate, number ZYC24Q00141R1S, valid to 28 November 2027, RoHS reports, German and French EPR registration and a GPSR EU representative.
Questions Buyers Ask About A Telescopic Box
Is the lid loose?
It is a slip fit, not a snap. The lid is made to the same drawing as the tray and closes under its own weight, so it lifts off cleanly with one hand and does not need a notch or a tab.
Can the inside be a different colour?
Yes. Black is the build shown; the liner takes any colour you name, and the tray can be left unlined if you want the board and the turned-in wrap on show.
Is the diamond pattern printed?
No. The quilt is embossed into the paper before it is wrapped, so the texture is the material. A plain matte wrap is available if you want the print to carry the whole face.
What is the minimum order?
300 pcs on the stock 14 x 8 x 5 cm size, and 500 pcs per size for a bespoke size or artwork. The rest is on the FAQ page.
